The Students' Union runs over 200 clubs and societies, from academic and cultural groups to sports teams competing in BUCS leagues. The Falmer Bar and East Slope Bar are popular social hubs on campus.

Brighton, just a short train ride away, is consistently voted one of the happiest places to live in the UK. The city is famous for its independent shops, street food scene, Pride festival, and the iconic Brighton Pier. The cost of living is lower than London while still offering a big-city experience.

For Asian students specifically, Brighton has a growing East Asian community with authentic restaurants, Asian supermarkets, and active student societies for Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Southeast Asian students.
